IC:

Character name: CR-S01
Fandom: Trauma Team
Timeline:Post-game
Age: Middle-Late Twenties [Unknown, since Atlus failed to ever mention his real age]
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:  Despite not having the Healing Touch he’s an exceptionally skilled general surgeon, knowledgeable in both old and new surgical techniques and able to switch between both if the need arises. He is also educated in pathology.
How would they use their abilities?:  CR would be more than willing to use his surgical prowess for the benefit of others, rather than to harm them. He is passionate about what he does and he wouldn’t abandon a patient in need, even if the resulting action would cause negative results on his end.
Appearance: CR-S01 is a thin, average-sized man, looking to be in his middle to late twenties with a pale complexion and crimson eyes. His hair is dark brown, straight and medium-length, with long bangs usually falling across his face. He wears a simple prisoner’s uniform, a white bodysuit-type of outfit, beneath his unbuttoned surgeon’s coat. He also has a Visiting Doctor’s pass which he wears around his neck.

Background/Personality: CR-S01 was a former Death Row inmate who was convicted of taking part in biochemical attack at Cumberland College, which resulted in the deaths of several students attending. Known as “The Cumberland Incident,” he was the only person found alive at the scene next to an empty syringe and thus was the prime suspect. Having suffered amnesia as a result of the trauma of the incident, he was found guilty and sentenced to 250 years of solitary confinement. Because of his amnesia, he can’t remember who he is or if he did in fact have a role in the Cumberland Incident or not; CR-S01, the name he is referred as, is his prison number. Despite his amnesia, CR-S01 feels deep remorse for the incident that he may or may not have committed, and has retained much of his medical expertise. Observing the sincerity of his grief, CR-S01 is offered a strange proposal from the government; he is to perform difficult surgeries in exchange for commuted sentence time. Though initially surprised with the chance to save lives again, he eventually agrees and is placed in a high-security room at Resurgam First Care.

Initially, CR-S01 wasn’t very open to anyone, remaining solemn during his procedures and appearing detached and emotionless when confronted with others. He wasn’t one for small talk, concerning himself only with his operations. As he spends more time at Resurgam First Care it becomes clear that he does care for the patients he operates on and maintaining the good name of the hospital. His prisoner status weighs heavily on his mind, and he often separates himself from others because of it, going so far as to wonder if it was alright to trust major surgery to ‘an outsider.’ When confronted by paramedic Maria Torres about his past and his involvement in the Cumberland Incident and told to ‘remember what you did’, he is overcome with guilt and withdraws within himself, refusing to operate or speak to anyone. He explains to orthopaedics surgeon Hank Freebird how he awoke surrounded by corpses and admits that he may have indeed been the killer before requesting to be alone, to which Freebird responds by calling him a fool for taking the blame. CR-S01 remains like this until investigator Ian Holden tells him that he should continue forward in life and that he should keep fighting for what he dreams about (namely, saving lives), before informing him that he’s cleared for surgery. It is this moment that thrusts him out of his guilty slump and rekindles his passion as a surgeon, and gives him the courage to stop running from his past.

CR-S01’s personality also begins to shift after this resolution. Though still maintaining a serious nature when it comes to his work, he does try to open up to the other doctors at Resurgam First Care. The results of this are somewhat varied and a little comical, as his lack of human contact while confined leaves him socially awkward to certain situations. He is also often pestered to ‘cheer up’ or to ‘take a compliment’ whenever he ignores praise from his fellow doctors.

During the outbreak of the Rosalia virus, exposure to the disease helps to trigger CR-S01’s memory and remember his past. He remembers how he was despised and feared by his parents as a child due to his apparent lack of emotion, worrying that he would one day kill them and calling him a monster. Both his parents died when he was young and he was adopted by Professor Albert Sartre, who would become his mentor and teacher as well as adoptive father. He also remembers that it was Professor Sartre, not him, who caused the Cumberland Incident. Though he knows who the true culprit is, CR-S01 doesn’t resent Professor Sartre for what he did since it was Professor Sartre who gave him the training and knowledge that he now uses to save lives. With knowledge of how to handle the Rosalia virus returned to him, he assists in the treatment of many patients until a vaccine is made and the disease controlled.

With the virus virtually eradicated, CR-S01 returns to prison to complete his sentence. However, he still remains as a Resurgam surgeon and is still allowed to exchange his services for reduced sentencing time.

Also on a side note, because he was adopted by Professor Albert Sartre, for simplicity’s sake I’m going to also refer to CR-S01 as Dr. Sartre, since introducing oneself as their prison number may be unnerving.

1st person sample:

[Video feed. A young man in his middle-to-late twenties appears on the screen, surprised at its operation. He turns to the screen, speaking clearly.]

Hello to those who are to be my new…roommates here. I’m a…well, on Earth I was a prisoner and a general surgeon at Resurgam First Care in Portland, America. My prison number is CR-S01, but you may call me Dr. Sartre if you wish.

It’s…interesting to believe that something like this could happen, but the fact that there are others here with the same predicament makes it fact. If anyone needs assistance, especially in the medical ward, please, contact me.

[Pauses, as if unsure what to say.]

I... look forward to working with you all. Thank you.

[Reaches forward, shutting off the feed.]

3rd person sample: A steady rhythm of systematic beeping filled the air of the operating room as four doctors surrounded the patient lying still on the operating table. One doctor monitored the anaesthesia, announcing when the patient was completely under. Another announced the status of the man’s vitals and their blood pressure, both reading normal.

CR-S01, who the other doctors knew as Dr. Sartre, nodded slowly as the first incision was made. “Right. Beginning the procedure. ” he announced. The assisting doctor nodded in response, helping to open the operating field. Soon the patient’s large intestines were exposed, and immediately CR-S01 frowned. Small, red inflammation marks littered the man’s intestines. “I need anti-inflammatory medicine to help treat these inflammations.” He said. One of the assisting doctors was quick to act, bringing the desired blue bottle to him along with a syringe. Filling the syringe with medicine, the surgeon quickly and carefully injected the medicine into the inflammations.

“…Right. We’ll be using the Powell Procedure to remove this tumour. Hand me the ultrasound.” He instructed, taking the desired tool from the supporting doctor. He worked diligently, his mind sharpening and focusing on the task in front of him. To him, the procedure was automatic; Ultrasound to find the tumour, make an incision to expose it, drain the cytoplasm, excise the tumour with the scalpel, remove it, place the synthetic membrane over the exposed hole, affix it with the antibiotic gel. It felt like no time at all before the tumour was removed.

“The tumour has been excised. Let’s close him up.” CR-S01 said once the procedure was completed. He closed the operating field as another doctor brought the sutures for him. He took them, stitching the incision closed in a calm, careful manner. Once the incision was closed he disinfected the wound with antibiotic gel and bandaged the incision.

“Operation complete.” a supporting doctor said, turning to CR-S01. “Thank you, Dr. Sartre.”
