It's six o'clock and the weather decided to fill it with midnight. It's pitch black out there. What does that mean? Minecraft screenshots!
"Why Geoff, you rapscallion, contrary to your previous claims, that is not a cave at all! That is more like a one story house, two if you count the strange glass protrusion at the rear! Why, you are a liar and a-"
"...I take it back."
The first picture is my cave entrance from the beach. The second is just inside the door and shows how much work I haven't done. As mentioned before, I was digging out coal in this cave, which used to have a sheer cliff face of an entrance. I was mining this coal and when I went to leave, it was midnight. I set up shop and never looked back.
Next floor down! As mentioned before, it was built into a sheer cliff face entrance. Therefore, the staircase was kinda put in wherever it could fit, so it meanders around a bit. To the left, near the torch with the Minecraft watermark, is the reason I set up shop here - the area in there was rich with coal. You can also see my workbench in there!
The 'ol mining room! It was impossible to get everything of interest in one shot, but! To the left is my storage chest, and my aim is to keep it as far but as close to the entrance as possible. To the right, where you see cobblestone instead of smooth stone, is the door to my secret underground waterfall entrance. The column in the center is actually the entrance to my old coal mineshaft. It extends up to the surface rather than down.
What's that, I hear you say? Secret underground waterfall entrance? Okay, I guess I can show you.
You can see light at the top of the waterfall, but it's a short climb out at that point. Puts me right behind the cave! Speaking of which, let's head back there.
That shaft leads to nothing, but it used to have some iron ore, which is part of my next process. Since I haven't officially started that process, my goal is to turn my spawn point into a Minecart Transit Station. Need iron to make the tracks and carts.
Behind me is another deadend mineshaft. In front of me is my (currently inactive) furnace and another workbench. I'm going to remove the workbench and put in a chest of nothing but wood, keep a supply of fuel for when I'm smelting. When I leave looking for iron, I'm probably going to toss in some cobblestone and make smooth stone, make this place a bit more presentable. The switch does nothing, by the way.
Now, what's that over to the right?
Why, that's my monster pit, naturally! You may be asking yourself, "But there's no monsters in that pit!" You may also notice that my inventory is missing.
There are monsters in there.
Now, with the basement complete, time to show off the above ground! You may have noticed the staircase going up in the second picture.
That staircase is off to the left. The ladders go up to the roof/ramparts. My goal is to put a chest with a sword, a bow and several arrows in there, in case I need to defend myself or if I want to kill monsters for their stuff.
This would be the roof/ramparts. If you were wondering how my cave got so much natural light, the skylight is the answer.
This is my observatory! That tree wasn't that tall earlier, so I'm going to cut that bastard down once I'm done here. While things are smelting and it's night time and there's not much for me to do, I come here.
And the view from the other side! Thus ends the tour of my cave. Current goal is to go find some more coal and iron, for torches and, well, iron stuff.
