iHerd on the Lamar Valley
The Bison are all over the Park. There are about 4000 Bison in Yellowstone currently.
Black Bear
We saw 2 Black Bear today. The other one was just off the road and there was no place to pull over so I didn't get a picture. Interestingly, the other one was actually black. The Grizzly is larger and has a hump over it's shoulders. It also has a different shaped head/face. We also saw elk, antelope, moose, a coyote and a Uinta ground squirrel. It was animal sighting day. That's what we were looking for.
The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
This canyon holds Yellowstone Falls which cannot be seen very well at this time due to closed observation sites. The canyon, itself, however, has it's own beauty.
We were stopped several times by Bison in the road. On one occasion there was a large bull standing by the road, just a yard or so away from the edge of the pavement. I drove slowly by while Kathy opened her window to get a better look. She said something to the animal and it grunted/snuffed a sound that startled her. She wasn't expecting an answer.
