Learning a new lifestyle has to be good for maintaining cognitive abilities but it can be a bit disconcerting at times.
A couple of days ago we spent one night in a campground that was ok except for one little issue. After hooking up our sewer outlet the trailer started smelling like what I would expect to find in the New York City sewer system. Kathy turned on the vent fan to attempt to clear the air but that, if anything, seemed to make it worse. A bit of research found that the smell was coming up through the sewer connection through our kitchen and bathroom drains. So the vent fan was actually drawing the smell up from the depths. A bit of research found that the fix for that is to simply let a section of the sewer outlet hose from the trailer dip into an elbow like the trap under your sink. That traps water and sets up a physical barrier to the sewer system. Such a simple and elegant fix for an apparently common issue with RV living.
