The last two days I have spent mostly with Heather and her guy friends who live across the street from where she was staying. They are funny and just relaxed, go with the flow kind of guys, and really super nice. We went out to lunch yesterday and today with them, except one couldn't be there yesterday and today he could be, plus another of their friends came along. And it was a good time. As it turns out, they know my cousin Steve. I mean, he went to Millersville, too. But what a coinicidence that we would be talking about last names (Italian...maybe because we were at Olive Garden) and that, even though Evans is obviously not Italian, that I would mention that mom's maiden name was Farina. So that's how they found out. Plus, they were planning on going to see Sara, Steve's girlfriend, at their appartment right after we ate. Steve was at work though, so I didn't get to see him. It was kind of crazy.
Heather stayed with me last night because she locked us out of her apartment when we went to the Columbia diner. Those things happen. We tried to get in but were too tired, and it was getting late, and Heather didn't feel well. After lunch today the tallest of the guys found the one window that was open, the one we didn't even check. He popped the screen out and him and another of the guys just lifted me up and I went right in through the window.
Heather had to go home today. She tried so hard to find a job and she did find a car, it's just a matter of test driving it and buying it. She did have two good interviews as well. I feel like, from what she's told me, her parents don't have much faith in her being on her own, but they aren't giving her the chance. I think her mom is really afraid to let her go and let her do these big transitions on her own. Her sister has horrible anxiety and her mom worries all the time. Heather worries too, but she'll be fine. Lancaster isn't evil, she could live in the city. People she might have to move in with who she doesn't know might actually be nice, good people. This town and the city and surrounding area isn't jobless, she will find a job, especially once it gets closer to school and places need help. I just wish she felt more support from her family and that she wasn't trying to deal with Jared not talking to her at the same time.
I hope she is able to come back soon. I already miss her. And I know she will have a hard time at home because everything she wants to make work is here.
I just wish there was more of a way I could help her.
