There is a curse...

...I'm sure I don't need to finish that line.

Well, it's been several months since I last posted, and I'm not going to try to catch up on what's happened between then and now.

Recent Interesting Times include:

1) Being hit by a kangaroo on the evening of Wednesday last week. I'm fine (I was able to keept the bike upright rather than being knocked over. Having thought back on it, I think if you're going to get hit by a kangaroo on a bike, it was probably the best part of the bike to be hit - the bike's balance to an impact there is almost self-correcting), but the bike, while it got me home, is off the road until I get some repairs done to it, expected to be somewhere on the other side of the New Year.

This led to being exposed to:

2) Catching a bus from Civic to Belconnen for a bit of Christmas shopping (I've taken leave from today until the end of the year). First indication of something amiss was when someone else got on after I'd sat down and I heard a female call from the back along the lines of "That's the guy who owes me money!" For some reason, maybe he didn't hear this, he sits near the back. Before the bus is halfway to Belconnen, there's a big shouting match at the back (from what I understood, the guy who owed money had some problem with paying it back, and the owe-ee didn't care and was demanding it back immediately), and the guy hurries up to the front shortly after while a girl (presumably the one who was owed money) tries to kick him. After reaching the front, the guy asks to be put off immediately, to which the girl and a guy (possibly her boyfriend) run up to the front and start threatening that if he gets off, they'd get off right after him. Eventually, a fight breaks out on the stairwell - right next to the driver - and, when the bus stopped at a set of lights, one of them forced the doors open and they all went out. Last thing I saw was the guy who owed money breaking away and running into the bush on Black Mountain, while the other two started walking along the road towards Belconnen.

Anyway, I gave my name and number to a security guard who got called in as a response, so I might end up getting my first stint as a legal witness. Joy.

Also, Ben, Mellie, if you're reading this: I'll be in Squiddley from Monday (18th) on to around the 29th, but I won't have my own transport. I should be in Canberra and available for a get-together there probably starting from the Tuesday or Wednesday after New Years, but again, I don't expect to get the bike fixed that quickly. Anyway, could you send me an email if you have any plans regarding get-togethers?
