Ok. For those that don't know (probably a bunch, because I don't think I've talked about it much) I like Star Wars. Like, really really like. A whole bunch. I keep on reading the novels I got in high school. Probably bordering on the excessive. Anyways, on a different topic, I am not very religious. I am Christian and all, but I find that a lot of the most hateful, mean spirited people on earth go to church. So I just pray all by my lonesome, and that works for me. But today we shall be combining the two! Into a super Jesus using the Force and Satan being the Emperor analogy.
This all started when I was going through the Audio books section when I worked for Lisa and Jennifer when they went off to Akon (I didn't want to go this year). Apparently, Samuel L. Jackson has done some readings for an audiobook version of the bible (cue me wondering whether he reads the passage that he says in Pulp Fiction). Then I discover James Earl Jones (the voice of Darth Vader, for those who don't know) has also done a reading for a bible audiobook. I think I knew about this already, but just forgot about it. Anyways, I made a joke to one of the other employees there about Darth Vader going "Jesus, I am your father" and such. Then I got to thinking (we know that bad stuff happens when I start to think...). There does seem to be a bunch of similarities between the two. Maybe that's just me wishing there was, but hey, there does seem to be some things that are alike. I'm sure someone has already talked about this before. Hell, I do know there is a book about Jedis and philosophy (also one about the matrix and religion as well) but I would like to think that most of this I just thought up on my own.
But really, think about it: Luke and Jesus. Both young men, growing up without knowing their fathers. Both gain a huge burden that only they can carry out. Both having access to strange powers that works wonders, trying to convert non-believers. Both trying to avoid the evil side of things. When the fathers do show up again, it changes everything for the two men. Then I started to get every more in depth with it.
Obi-wan: An Angel.
Han Solo: Joseph.
Leia: Mary.
Luke: Jesus.
The Force: Holy Ghost.
Chewbacca: The donkey.
But again, this is probably me just wanting there to be a connection between the two. I mean, come on! You know that if Jesus wielded a lightsaber when he was battling Satan, you soooo would go to church more! I know I would.
