Palladium may be going under. Don't know if anyone on my friends list actually cares, but I figured I'd do my part to spread the word on what's happening and how people can help.
The $800,000 to $1.3 million was what the estimated overall damages were, not what was embezzled, from what I read. I kind of doubt that the exact amount embezzled would be posted.
I don't know. I don't really like seeing the game company go under, but I've never liked the games this particular company has put out, nor the way it's been run in the past. One of my best friends in high school got threatening letters from Paladium because he posted details of his highly modified Robotech game online... it's not that he was trying to sell it or anything, just showing what he had done with HIS campaign, and they got all pissy about it. Not really the best in terms of user experience.
And again, there's the lack of a good product in the last 10 years, which I think may also have been problematic.
I hadn't even heard of the plans for the Rifts video game or movie. He needs better marketing. And to not go with the NGage. Not sure what he was thinking there... no one wants to play an RPG on a cell phone. Wrong medium for that.
Heh. I just reread the part about the limited edition print. In this particular case, Limited Edition seems to mean as many as he can sell. "I don’t know how many there will be in the end; I pray for thousands!" That's not really what I thought Limited Edition was, but meh. I wasn't planning on buying one anyways.
If he'd put out a limited edition (by my definition of Limited Edition) game book or map or something directly useful in a game, as opposed to "Here's a sketch I just drew!", it would have been much more tempting.
