I'm in kind of an odd state. I feel very accomplished over the past few weeks, despite the fact that I've had to come up with new mental sub-routines for most of my life. The new job is pretty nifty, but I find myself alternatively bored and overwhelmed by things I need to get done. Currently, I'm dealing with the former - once I get even one of the return calls I'm expecting, the pendulum will shift the other way.
The new place is going to be a big hassle for a couple weeks, for the sheer fact that we're moving 6 people from 5 locations into one dwelling. The utilities (at least electricity and water, at this point) will be active on Friday. I'm going to swing by the place to see what the oil situation is - I want to see how pressing an oil delivery is. Cable/Broadband gets to wait a day or two, since the power is rather necessary for either of them to work. Phone... well, let's just say the phone companies already make enough money of this collective group that it doesn't pay to get a land line in addition.
I have to figure out not only what I'm bringing out east from Staten Island, but how the hell I'm going to get it out here. I already know the list includes two computer towers, one monitor, and various peripherals and media. Add that to the clothing and other effects that I want to have with me, and the "requires truck" meter starts to rise. I'm seriously considering moving my stuff over a few weeks, which will save me the cost of a truck rental (and the associated headache) as well as keep my mother off my back for lack of visiting. When I'm going to find time for these round-trips is anyone's guess, but it beats spending practically two whole days deconstructing on one end, trucking back out East(without being able to use most of the roads I prefer) and unloading.
For those who are curious, we're likely going to start moving a few things in over the course of this week. This weekend will probably be the "big move" time.
