That is ADORABLE! And I love the way you've handled the direction and size of feathers in the wings.
The expression, and the pose are lovely, (The shape the whole pale figure, (inlcuding wings), makes against the dark background is very pleasing/graceful). And I love those two feathers circling in the water. (I do love your style of painting, I must say.)
Thank you so much for such a lovely comment! This was a rather experimental piece for me (water >.<), so I'm very glad you think it turned out well. (Although I'm afraid I can't take much credit for the wings- I used some pictures of swans for reference. ^_^) Also, I must say that I am always looking forward to seeing more of your art; it's unusual to find a traditional artist- acrylics and oils!-in fandom, especially one with your skill! :)
I used swans for reference when I was trying to draw wings. (I also did a painting of a winged guy a few years ago...nothing to do with Merlin that one.) But the wings still came out very dodgy, not anywhere NEAR as nice as yours at all.
Thank you. Well, I suppose I'm older than a lot of fans, so I'm still using "traditional" mediums, (digital art wasn't even an option when I first got into fandom, so I've never really even tried it), whereas most fans now are of course using the latest medium that's available. I'd no doubt be doing the same if I was twenty.
(Mind you...I'd miss actual real paint. There's something about actually putting paint onto something with a brush and pushing it around that's very enjoyable.)
*blush* Thanks. I have a not-so-secret soft spot for birds and once upon a time used to draw them a lot.
Personally, I bow down to traditional artists. I have a little experience with traditional media and find it very trying! Digital art is not a bed of roses, of course, but there is no denying that it bypasses some of the difficulties inherent of traditional art. (It's never too late to try it! The delights of Ctrl+Z are something worth experiencing. ^.^) Though I definitely agree that there is nothing quite like working with an actual brush and the mess smell of paint. :)
You drew art for my fic! Actually, it's kinda creepy how you read my mind, plot wise, sorta. ahemspoilers
I love this, especially how you drew his wings! How it arches and the flying feathers brush the water it's pretty much how I see it in my head! :O And the down feathers in the water <3
Ahaha, it's MORE creepy (or not, twin :D) how I read your mind about the ahemspoilers. LINK. Ahahaha, we shall talk later. ;P <3
I love this, too! It's sooo how I picture it, and Merlin's face is so simply yet perfectly rendered. The WINGS... guhhh. And o.o naked!Merlin? ::manages a few blubbering noises before fainting:: :D <3
Awww, that is really beautiful. And merlin can't fly because he carries a big burden, one of the biggest mankind has ever seen. The wings look terrific and i really like the background, especially because of the colour.

And sorry, I waffled a bit there. :)
