Who
We are a friendly community dedicated to the artworks created based on the BBC show Merlin. We focus on the drawn section of fanworks, by all medium, less the pretties be scattered wildly in the LJ fauna. Drawmelot is open for both fanartists and fanart appreciators alike.
What
We target predominately-drawn fanworks, both digital and traditional (or mixes) as well as events where they are present. Our goal is to gather drawing fanarts under a single community no matter their preferred genre, pairing, rating or style. Alternate Universes (AU) and drawings of the actors from the Merlin cast are welcomed.
Beside artworks, members are encouraged to post recommendations of other people's fanarts through links. They can also use this community to ask questions related to drawing Merlin (ei: "Does anyone have a clear shot of Merlin's shoes?" or "What do you think about drawing them not looking like the actors?"), to offer drawing resources and to request feedback on pieces (including requesting art betas). Pimping of a Merlin-related community, event or meme are also welcomed as long as they are open to artists.
Rules and guidelines
- Put every full-sized image behind an LJ-cut. Previews are okay, as long as reasonably sized (ex: under 600px for width) and do not contain mature or spoilery imagery.
- Please always use this form for posting art pieces:

Other notes: Note: when asking for an art beta, no need to use all the character tags - simply tag with the *beta request tag.
- Always use tags for your posts by artist:, character(s), pairing, rating, genre and theme, when applicable. Explanations can be found below.
- Do not post anything that isn't a drawing or a variation thereof. There is a lot of other places made for them. Here are some:
About tags
Please always tag your posts with the minimum artist name, rating, and character(s). This makes it easier for everyone to find your works again, and for mods to keep track of what is being posted. If any tag you need is missing, please either contact one of the mods and directly ask for it, or use *tag-missing on your entry and leave a note at the bottom of your post about which tag you want added. We'll add as many as you need.
- artist: usually, you. If you are a new artist, use *tag-missing. Your artist tag can be different from your username - we simply ask that you always use the same one for yourself. If the artist isn't you, we ask that you got their permission to post in this community.
- character name, or names. Even if you specified a pairing, repeat the characters' names here. Some people really like checking all art made featuring a certain character.
- genre: a bit of a mix-and-match box to further categorize your work. From the days artists could create any tags, we currently have: au, crack, crossover, fic fanart, fluff, friendship, illustration, pwp, romance, slash, smut and wips.
- pairing: If your pairing is missing, use *tag-missing .
- rating: General is the default - Teen for light violence or delicate subject matters - Mature for implied sex or violence - and Explicit for very graphic sex or violence. For both Mature and Explicit drawings, please set your entry's "Adult Content" filter appropriately.
- theme: we'll create these for contests, challenges, memes or Big Bangs; any official and public challenges can request a tag.
- *collaboration & projects: for both authors and artists looking for partners to work on a collaborative project, to announce one's intention of making one or to present the results of one.
- *resources and pimp: this is for recommendations, announcement of challenges, new communities or contests , advertising an artist's work and for questions about Merlin related to drawing.
