SCORPIO: passionate, penetrating, complex, resourceful, ambitious and hypnotic. As children they seem wise beyond their years--lost souls who go on to live dramatic and fate-filled lives. They have 3 levels of self evolution: the Scorpion (least evolved, drawn to evil); the Eagle (confident, successful in life); and the Pheonix (superior power, able to turn evil into good).
The card depicts Mordred as a young man in search of power, but as he reflects on his childhood, he realizes his desire for evil is greater than his wish to evolve. The Scorpion thrives, the eagle remains dormant, and the phoenix is understandably absent.
