Rung 2

Last week I had my six-month review and my probationary period ended. Basically, my boss told me I was doing fine and checked off little boxes in an official form that HR gave her and that she claims doesn't apply to us. It has such items as "Safety - Consider awareness of and adherence to ergonomics and safety practices and procedures." It seems that I have not been sitting at my desk unsafely and have done well at not stapling forms to myself or coworkers. Basically, passing the 6-month mark without incident means that if I suddenly start being unsafe and running my hair through the paper shredder, it will be more expensive for them to fire me and they'll have to provide references with a better explanation than "we didn't like her".

I was excited to pass this milestone, although I pretty much knew it would happen. Another good thing about my job- no surprises on the evaluations; if I've screwed up I know about it right away and have a chance to correct things.

I was surprised today, though, when my boss pulled me aside and told me I've been promoted! I am now officially a Production Editor rather than a Production Assistant. I had expected this to happen after the 9-month or 1-year marker, so I'm really pleased. Also- raise! Yay!
