Well, another Monday not spent at the shining library on the green hill (or whatever Chandler's phrase is I'm mangling), as the Java Kernel busting VLE was desperately slow in uploading this week's lectures and the electronic submission page, and I had a pile of essays to virtually glance through and comment. With one thing and another, I only caught the bus up at 5.00, had time to renew by Carbuncle card, buy tickets for tonight and the next few weeks (The Wave and Eraserhead, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, the freebie Married Life and perhaps the bizaarest double bill yet of Blithe Spirit and Gomorrah, to which I might add The Fall if I have the energy on the Sunday.)
I had an hour of typing - and the knowledge that I'd not done Sunday's slot - and I thought I'd gotten up to 4000 words. In the brief gap between films I checked, and in fact it was only 700. Maybe I misread the number of characters as words. I could have sworn though (in fact I did). But fortunately the cinema tickets lied about the length of the film so I caught the penultimate bus, just about giving me time to catch up - or at least only be five hundred behind. Here's hoping I can catch up tomorrow.
