I'd bet it was "Stand By Me" but not sure who sang it. Was it a re-make?

Sadly, no.
No hints yet.

Bugger. I thought Stand By Me was the only Stephen King movie he directed and the only one he really liked. Can't be Misery, Carrie, Salem's Lot, Running Man, oh.. it's that other one.. damn, can't think of the name.. and me a big Stephen King fan. How embarrassing.

Trust me, it's SO obscure...

But since you're the only person even thinking about it...
Trivia 1: The movie is "Maximum Overdrive", a ghastly B-grade Horror-Thriller-Slash-Blood-&-Gore fest from the short story "Trucks". Written & directed by the man himself, Steven King.
The soundtrack is by AC/DC & it's basically the album "Who Made Who".
Obviously I am an AC/DC fan.

Trivia 2; Kiss's "I Was Made For Lovin' You" [from the album "Dynasty"], was perennially played by the dodgem cars.
Yes, I'm a Kiss fan too. "Dynasty" was the first album I ever bought. I was ... 10 or 11.

Trivia 3: ZZ Top, Carrara ['87/'88, I'm truly unsure of the year] supported by The Angels. It was a show at which one could get stoned just by breathing the surrounding air. I managed to have a massive asthma attack & watched much of the show from the first aid tent, with an oxygen mask on my face. I am still a ZZ Top fan, Angels fan too...

Huh! I didn't know that. it doesn't surprise me though because he mentions ACDC in some of his books.

I was almost going to guess the Kiss one, because it was the one Kiss track that got flogged everywhere. Oh, everywhere.

I had no idea about number three, but that's pretty funny (although not at the time I imagine).
