Things, stuff, etc.

God, it's been forever since I've paid much attention to this thing. Does anyone even read this any more? I've been using it more for private messages and reminders than anything else for the past year. Anyhow. Things:

The language project that I've been working on with a grad friend back at Case Western has been going wonderfully. We've been invited to speak in a language conference here over in the Netherlands. The project has been successful so far, and is a significant chunk of strong AI. If there are robotic overlords within your lifetime, Remember who is it that you have to thank. I'm just happy to be working so closely on a project that incorporates both programmatic thinking and language, two fields that interest me enormously.

I've started writing more seriously again for the first time in years (excluding what I have online, which is... not something I would likely look to publish) and as I get further along in my work, I'm debating whether to publicly post some samples of it online. I'm not sure how that affects copyright. I am shooting for a manuscript by the end of the year, but that's not something I'm going to get crazy over if it can't happen.

At the end of the current lease, I'm probably going to start looking into the house market so that Tom and I will have a place to stay that isn't a giant money-toilet. Possibly a duplex, so we could rent half out and live in the other half. Anyone looking to move into the Ohio area?

Online presence is very small except during work hours... which unfortunately seems like the time that very few people I used to chat with are online. I have little enough free time that online life simply doesn't rank high enough on the priority list for me to take as much time as I would like to, unfortunately.

Work is going as well as can be expected. I'm lucky enough to work for a company that specializes in goods tracking and creating systems to monitor finances, so we're doing very well. If anything, companies are looking to save money and crack down on inter-company theft, so we're more in demand now than before the crunch. Hopefully the company will be expanding a bit more and I'll be able to get some travel in on their budget visiting clients in interesting cities.

general recap: Things are busy, cool, and making my head spin.
