This is a meme that I’m starting up based on a writing exercise I saw a few years back and have been curious to try. I sat down and typed out the first four paragraphs that came into my head. Anyone who wants to continue with the first four paragraphs that pop into theirs, comment below and make an entry on your own journal that expands on what’s already written. If you run across this entry that there has already been a continuation, follow the trail of links until you get to the last one, then continue from there.
There was a bright flash and I woke. Disoriented and unsure of where I was, my first reaction was to lurch up from my slumped position and try to find a wall to press my back against.
Spots danced before my eyes as I groped blindly. Where on earth was this? What was I doing here? As my hand met the hard, flat surface of a wall, my vision began to slowly return to me. The flash that had woken me was much brighter than the very dim light illuminating what I saw to be a small cell. I blinked furiously and rubbed my eyes, trying to speed their adjustment.
What on earth had happened? As I began to calm myself, I realized there was a dull ache in my skull. Feeling the side of my head gingerly, I winced at even light pressure on a massive lump, lightly crusted in blood. That explained my disorientation.
Trying to think, I realized I must have been hit hard enough that my survival wasn’t a top priority. I was… a lawyer? An accountant? Personal information was in my head, but confused. Anything outside of the immediate present was foggy and muddled, and I prayed silently there wasn’t some sort of bleeding going on inside my head.
