April Dramione Quiz: Seventh/Eighth Year Stories

Apr 17, 2009 12:39

*Ehem*

Attention, attention!

Class is now in session.

Welcome to the April edition of Dramione Quiz. Oh, April - the time of year when classes are in high gear and assignments are driving some of us completely mad, but fear not! We are here to test you, but it’s not for a grade, it’s for a shiny banner! In honor of all the students out there, this month’s theme is Seventh/Eighth Year fics.

Before we get to the quiz, I have to announce that we’re adding a new section to the quiz. Instead of just matching the stories, we’re also going to introduce a new section: Multiple Choice. Since this month is just a trial, there will only be 4 (out of a total of 9) multiple choice questions.

So grab something quick to snack on and good luck!

Here is a list of all the stories being used in this month’s quiz. Keep in mind that all of these will be used ONCE in either the matching section or the multiple choice section.

1. Basketcase by attica
2. Claiming Hermione by ilke
3. Ruled by Secrecy by Zaliassa.Salistia
4. Eight and Eighth by marmalade fever
5. The Bracelet by AkashaTheKitty
6. 10 Ways to Kill Draco Malfoy by Drakulya
7. Draco, Phoenix Rising by Cheryl Dyson
8. Stolen by elsie_girl
9. The Dragon's Bride by Rizzle

Matching section: Please match the following five passages to their title and author

1.

"You need to learn to hunt and kill alone. It's part of the thrill, you see. Once you can kill a mouse on your own, we can move to bigger things; funner things. It'll be a real popper, you'll see. And when we finally get you on to people..." Draco's lips brushed Hermione's; it was gentle, teasing, seemingly incapable of forming such words. "Then it'll just be you and me, and we'll be all each other needs."

Then he engaged the Head Girl in a sudden, passionate kiss, pressing her against the dust-covered wall. Hermione's hands immediately grasped for something to hold on to, trying to regain a sense of balance, and she barely noticed that she clung to the other boy, responding, kissing back.

2.

“Was that absolutely necessary?” Hermione hissed. Her voice was heavy with reproach. Draco was suddenly sick to death of Gryffindors. Hermione and her bloody ideals! What had she expected? That he, Potter, and Weasley would embrace like brothers? He decided to spoil her naiveté.

“Yes, I think it was,” he said icily. “But, thank you for trying.”

With that, he reached out and slung an arm around her waist. He pulled her tightly against him and then leaned down to plant a kiss on her astonished mouth. He took his time about it, figuring he might as well die for a pound as a penny. Intending to chastise her, he tasted her lingeringly, letting his tongue glide over her lips in exquisite torment. His senses were suddenly overcome with the feel, scent, and taste of her. His own pulse quickened, which was not at all what he’d intended.

She was too stiff with shock to respond. Of all the risks he’d taken in the past few days, kissing Hermione Granger with a wand in her hand in full view of her two protectors ranked quite high up on the list.

He nibbled her bottom lip with his teeth, wishing the moment didn’t have to end so soon, and then released her and stepped back. Her eyes had an incredulous, glazed look and she barely seemed to be breathing. He felt a bit dazed himself.

3.

“Amazing how they can speak so much and say so little,” Ron muttered.

“It’s a talent,” Hermione concurred.

“You feeling alright?” he asked, giving her an odd, sideways look. Hermione nodded. “Fine. Why?”

“Well for one you’ve been missing meals. And Lavender says you were a bit snippy yesterday. Harry reckons it’s probably the heat. Or woman’s stuff. Ginny always gets twice as annoying when she's down with woman's stuff...”

“It’s the heat, Ron,” Hermione said, tiredly. “I’m fine, really. Just run down.”

They arrived at the edge of the forest, where a faint trail began and winded deeper into the trees. It wasn’t so much a pathway as a well-trodden dirt track that Hagrid and Fang took whenever they ventured into the forest. Hagrid had in fact shot down the delivery macaw not far from where they stood.

“We’ll split up. You two take the top of the path, Weasley and I will stay on the bottom end,” Millicent barked. “If there are no objections?” It wasn't really like she was giving them options.

There were no objections. Ron gave Hermione a reassuring look as she and Malfoy set off ahead.

It took her ten minutes to locate her first batch of Tangleweed. Malfoy walked silently beside her, no doubt waiting until they were well and truly beyond eavesdropping distance before speaking his mind. They were relatively deep in the forest, deeper than most students would have ventured during school hours.

4.

“Everyone!” he all but snarled. “Back to your classes or I’ll be deducting 100 points for everyone in your house still standing here in the next minute.” They scattered quickly.

“Hermione, Draco,” he addressed them promptly.

“Yes sir?” asked Hermione as Draco helped her from the floor.

“You are dismissed.” He rounded on Harry and Ron. “As for you two,” he growled. “Follow me.”

Watching them go, she felt torn in half yet again. She didn’t know what to think. They way they had ganged up on Draco like that… It wasn’t right. She sighed. Turning to look at Draco she spied his mouth still bleeding. With a quick, wordless spell she healed it.

“I’m sorry.” She apologized for her friends, still in disbelief.

“It’s not your fault. They didn’t act much your friends either.” The comment stung her though that was not its intention. The sad truth of it was, they didn’t. Then, a little reluctantly he offered, “I suppose I should thank you for defending me.”

“Well, I know you didn’t do it.”

“That’s just it though,” he said slowly, looking at her carefully. “You don’t.” Her brow creased in confusion. He explained. “The picture from the paper was taken the day after Neville was attacked. It doesn’t prove anything.”

5.

Ron made a face. “Just as long as we don’t play, ‘pass the baby to Uncle Ronnikins’ and have him spit up on me again.”

Hermione shook her head. “It’s what they do, Ron. Besides, I wouldn’t let you hold that baby again unless you’ve learned not to throw him around like a football.”

“A-?”

“A quaffle,” she remedied.

“No, seriously, does it look like a foot, or…?”

“I believe it’s a round ball with black pentagons and white hexagons that is kicked around a playing field,” Amorell said from behind them, startling Hermione and Ron completely. She sent them a smile that was reminiscent of Luna Lovegood. “What’s this about a baby?”

Hermione moved to open her mouth, but Harry beat her to it. “My godson. We’re going to be visiting with him in Hogsmeade.” Apparently, Harry hadn’t learned to fear and/or rue Amorell in the same way Hermione had, having partnered with Hannah, who was relatively at ease with him, despite small amounts of hero-worship.

Multiple Choice: Which stories do the following short passage come from?

1. Pin pricks shot through his arm and, sitting up, he shook it out. He looked down at his clothes and rolled his eyes. He stood and stretched his achy body languorously. He gathered his books and the parchment still on his desk. On his way out he grabbed the lone note in his box.

Malfoy,
You look like shit.
Hermione

At the end of her name were two lines and a swoop made a happy face.

Is it from…

A. Stolen by Elsie_girl
or
B. Claiming Hermione by ilke

2. About 10 minutes later, I manage to spot Draco, thanks to his distinguishable drawl and Crabbe and Goyle's loud voices. I quickly hide around a corner, but then remember that I am invisible to them. Heart pounding, I casually walk towards them, carefully avoiding contact. To perform my plan, I'll need a broom cupboard. Scouting ahead, I spot one a few dozen metres away. Slowly I follow the trio like a ghost, making sure to keep as quiet as I can.

When we reach the cupboard, I dart off to the side and whisper, "Alohamora!" to unlock the cupboard.

Draco stops and frowns in my direction. "Wait, boys. I think I heard something." He slowly walks in my direction. "Knowing how some people own invisibility cloaks these days, it's best to check you're not going to be jumped." The blonde Slytherin waves his hands in front of him like a zombie, and I quickly open the door to hit him in the face. "Dammit! Goddamn, that hurt!" He rubs his nose, glaring at the door.

Is it from…

A. The Dragon’s Bride by Rizzle
or
B. 10 Ways To Kill Draco Malfoy by Drakulya

3. “And who are you supposed to be?” Draco said coldly. He made sure that he knew he wasn’t wanted. He was very good at that. He’d been raised in such an atmosphere and he was pretty sure he could even make dear ol’ Frosty cry if he was feeling up to it. Mincing up this boy to simply look like some washed-up halfwit would be no problem.

“Connor,” the boy clad in the yellow Quidditch uniform informed him. He did not bother to offer a last name, as he only looked at Draco in mild curiosity.

Draco froze.

The prick of remembrance struck him like a bucket of ice-cold water.

He now knew where he’d met him before.

Why, he’d tried stealing Granger away from him before! Out in the snow, after they had been caught in the midst of that dreadful snow fight! Damned Connor had tried to woo Granger when she had interviewed him!

Is it from…

A. Basketcase by attica
or
B. Ruled by Secrecy by Zaliassa.Salistia:

4. “Play nice, Draco,” Theo said from his desk, not indicating any surprise that Draco had arrived. “Don’t bother her.”

A flash of irritation flittered across Draco’s features before he adopted a smug look. “I’m not bothering her,” he replied. “Granger and I are the best of friends. Aren’t we, Granger?”

Hermione couldn’t keep her head from snapping up and Draco smirked at her. Damn it. She scowled at him and his smirk widened.

“Yes…” she finally answered. “We’re bosom buddies.” She smiled very sweetly at him and his gaze flickered. “So, tell me, friend… Can you do rounds tomorrow?”

Draco wrinkled his nose in a look of pure disgust. “No,” he replied.

Hermione raised an eyebrow. “Why not?”

Because I don’t bloody feel like it.
