Valentine's Day Challenge Prompt 4: "Destination Nowhere"

The young man had been wandering the streets of Muggle London for hours, head bowed and heart heavy. He kicked a pebble across the pavement when he realized that had lost track of time; looking around, he also noticed he was in an unfamiliar part of town.
Plopping down on the curb, he waited for the Knight Bus to show up. It was barely two minutes later when the hulking purple bus screeched to a halt before him.
“Where to, mate?”
“Anywhere. Nowhere.”
He paid the fee and climbed aboard. Finding the first empty bed, he fell flat onto his back and placed his hands behind his head. As the bus rocked almost violently to and fro, he thought about what had occurred earlier that evening.
He had planned it out perfectly. There would be wining and dining, and he was going to romance Hermione right out from under that stupid git’s nose. Merlin only knew what she even saw in him.
Flowers in hand, he Apparated outside of her little country cottage only to catch sight of the girl he loved walking out the door with him. She looked bright and beautiful; her cheeks flushed as she giggled at something the bastard had said. The other man wrapped his arms around her waist, and she pushed herself up on her tip-toes to kiss him softly on the mouth.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Draco,” he heard her say as the two Disapparated away.
Dropping the posies onto the ground, Ron Weasley’s heart shattered.
Now, as he stared at the ceiling of the Knight Bus, all he could see was the sparkling diamond ring that had adorned Hermione’s left hand.
Draco Malfoy had won.
