Notes: Just in time for Christmas. Happy Holidays, everyone! Prompts were scarf and goodnight.

Draco helped Hermione into her cloak after they said their goodbyes to his parents. Most of those who had come to his parents’ annual Christmas party had already left, so it was a polite time to leave. They’d been on their best behavior, but he didn’t want to push it.

Besides, he could tell Hermione was getting a little antsy.

As soon as they were outside, her heard her breathe in a deep breath of air. He hugged her tighter against him and kissed her temple. “You were brilliant in there, Hermione.”

She smiled up at him and wrapped an arm around him as they started walking to the gate leading from the property. “Thanks. You know, I think I actually had a good time.”

His lips twitched. “And you swore it wasn’t possible,” he quipped.

“Yes, well-” She paused, staring straight ahead. “You were right.”

Draco stopped them short, turning to look at her with an exaggerated expression of shock on his too-pretty face. “Please, say it again.”

Hermione smacked him lightly, though her lips curved up in amusement. “Oh shove off.” She shook her head, and then tugged on his arm to get them moving again. “So, are you planning to see me home, or are you going to leave me to fend for myself.”

“Oh, come off it. Like you wouldn’t be able to handle anything that might come up.” Still, he put an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close. "Would you like me to Apparate us or would you prefer to go separately?"

“Hmm.” She pondered for a moment. They’d been dating for over eight months already, but there were still so many lines they hadn’t crossed. In the beginning it was because it had been so new, and they weren’t exactly sure where they stood with one another, but over time it had just begun to be habit.

She rather thought tonight was a night for crossing lines. So, she snuggled closer against him and said, “You go ahead. I’m quite comfortable where I am now.”

Draco chuckled even as he said the spell that would send them to her home. Once there, he walked her to the door and gave her a light kiss. “Goodnight, Hermione.”

“Mmmm.” Her hands lifted, tugged on the ends of his scarf to bring him closer. She kissed him deeply, feeling so warm despite the chill in the air. He tasted of peppermint and bubbly, a combination she hadn’t thought would be so intoxicating.

After a minute, he pulled away, groaning so softly she might have imagined it. “I’m trying to be a gentleman, Hermione,” he reminded her lightly.

“Well, stop it,” she said, looking up at him. Her hand reached behind her to twist the doorknob. She stepped backward into her home, pulling him with her. “It’s Christmas Eve, Draco, and I think I’d like to wake up on Christmas morning next to you.”

It was a moment before he responded, but when he did, she couldn’t help but laugh. “Well, if you’re certain.” He tried to appear put upon, but he couldn’t quite hide the pleasure at being invited to stay the night for the first time.

“Hermione?” When she looked up at him after shutting the door, he continued, “Thank you.”

“For what?” she asked curiously.

“For coming to the party tonight. It meant a lot to my parents, and it means a lot to me.”

She smiled a bit deviously. “You know how you can thank me?”

Quirking an eyebrow, he asked, “How?”

“By helping me out of this dress,” she murmured.

“Now that I can do!” When she laughed, he kissed her, and together, they crossed another line.
