That was sweet. I really like the idea of the DCs! It sounds so ... fitting, and it was interesting to see it treated as a drug, despite the fact that it seems so harmless. But then, everything seems harmless in moderation, doesn't it? What a struggle the poor boy has. So much so that it apparently doesn't both him that he's recurrently day-dreaming about Hermione Granger, heh. Our subconscious is strange like that.

Thank you for sharing this! :)

You're very welcome and thank you for leaving such a lovely reply :)

I always wondered how some people would react to having such an impossible task given to them with their own death being the consequence for failing. Would they only just not eat and lose weight/sleep? Or would they turn to other things to help them get through? That's where the idea of the Daydream Charms came in. Plus, I had to imply DHr somewhere, LOL.

Thanks again for reading!

Wow, the Daydream Charm is quite a creative touch! I would imagine Draco finding himself unable to resist the fantasies it could bring him, away from the life in which his path is already set for him. Well done, great use of the prompt to tap on everybody's longing to experience the road not taken! (:

Thanks, bb! Incorporating the Daydream Charm solved two of my biggest problems when writing this: meeting the prompt and making it Draco/Hermione.

It's a sad idea, really, to think of Draco or anybody resorting to using these charms in this way, but I do think it would take an extremely strong person to not abuse something when under so much pressure.

Thanks again for reading :)

You know, I would love to try one of those things. I'm not exactly sure if you actually get to dictate what you would like to happen or if it would simply pull from your subconscious, but either way, I think it's a fantastic invention :)

Thanks you so much for reading and adding the tag ♥

Thank you very much :) Using the Daydream Charm was what made it possible for me to write this as Draco/Hermione. It was definitely a fun prompt to write for.

Poor Draco! You did such a great job depicting his thoughts and feelings. I particularly liked this part.
He hated to admit any sort of likeness to the orphan hero, but in a way, he was chosen as well. Chosen to carry out an impossible task for the parents that he loved. For pride.

And yes, I could imagine he would resort to something like DC. Though, the DC itself was a totally original idea! Great use of the prompt!

Thank you! I'd thought the DCs had been done before in other fanfic, but it's wonderful to know it's not that common. It worked out perfectly for making this a Draco/Hermione fic instead of just a small Draco introspective one.
