The rain kept coming down in torrents. The vicious wind kept blowing her wet hair into her face and obscuring her vision. Her umbrella had broken when she was halfway home. She nearly got hit by a car as she crossed an intersection with other pedestrians. The right heel of her favorite pair of shoes snapped in half as she trekked up the stairs towards her flat. She barely made it to her flat in one piece. She was amazed to make it through the door without something else going wrong.
She felt there was a conspiracy against her because nothing had gone right for her the whole day. When the day had started out she wanted it to be perfect, she wanted it to go smoothly. She got to work early and immediately started her work. Unfortunately that's as far as it went. Every memo she sent out either got lost or got mixed up with others. The people who did receive their memos ended up with the wrong ones. She found out at the last minute that a very important meeting for the heads of the departments within the Ministry was being held today and as a result arrived late. Around lunch time a co-worker accidentally spilled coffee on her brand new shirt. It wasn't cold coffee either. All these events led her to believe that there was some sort of cosmic force that didn't want her to be happy on Valentine's Day.
She threw her umbrella away in the trash can nearby. She slipped off her shoes and tossed them in the trash too. By now all she wanted to do was curl into a little ball under the blankets and pass out. When she opened her bedroom door there was a trail of rose petals leading to her bed and candles illuminating the room. The scent in her room was mesmerizing. A small smile graced her lips.
"Happy Valentine's Day," a familiar voice said. Soon she was being enveloped in a hug.
"If only you knew what kind of day I had," Hermione replied as he hugged him back.
"We can talk about it while we have dinner," Draco replied.
"Does that dinner include a romantic kiss?"
"It wouldn't be dinner if it didn't."
