Round 7 update and opinion poll
Once again, congratulations to all of our "Best of 2009" winners! liltinybee is hard at work on the award banners, but while we're waiting for them to be finished, ( BANNERS ARE UP!) I'd like to take a few moments to let you know about what's coming up next at the Dramione Awards, and also get your opinion about what sort of Dramione goodness you'd like to see featured in future rounds.
We are already set on doing a round devoted to drabbles/ficlets (fiction of 1000 words or less) for Round 7. Details will be announced later this year, but here's the basics: #1. There will be no time limit for when the nominated fics were written (i.e. they don't have to have been written in 2009, etc.). #2. Due to the shortness of the fics involved, this round will be much shorter than the last one - probably 5-6 weeks total. We were thinking of having Round 7 sometime in early-mid autumn, before people get busy with the winter holidays, but please fill out the poll below to let us know when you think it should be. Also, please tell us when other Dramione fests/exchanges will be happening, so we can try to avoid overlapping with them, if possible (obviously, we can't avoid every fest in the fandom, but we'll do our best not to hold the awards at the busiest times of year).

ALSO, we would like to announce that we will NOT be holding a "Best of 2010" round next year. This is because the eligibility requirements (with the fics having to have been completed in 2009) created a lot of confusion this last round. The main reason we did a "Best of 2009" round in the first place was to prevent people from nominating the same old fics again and again. We'd like to maintain this goal, but we have come up with a new, simpler way of doing it, which we will announce before the next round begins.
In the meantime, since we are not doing a "Best of 2010" round, we'd like to hear your opinions about what our theme should be for Round 8 of the Dramione Awards next year. Below are a few ideas the mods have come up with. Feel free to second some of these ideas, as well as suggesting your own! (Later, after Round 7, we will create a poll from the most popular choices.)
- A "New/Unrecognized Authors" round in which nominated fics would have to be written by an author who has never won a Dramione Award before (we would have an alphabetical list of all past winners, so people can easily check to see if an author has previously won).
- A "Fun with Cliches" round, devoted to popular tropes in the ship (Marriage Law, Veela, Head Boy/Head Girl, etc).
- A round devoted entirely to G, PG, & PG-13 fics.
- A round devoted to Christmas fics and/or other holidays.
- A round dedicated exclusively to art and fan vids.
Remember, these awards are for YOU, the Dramione fans, so let us know what you'd like to see! Thanks in advance for your input!
