Bloomsbury facing plagiarism lawsuit over HP

Jun 16, 2009 18:14

The British publisher of 'Harry Potter' books faces a plagiarism lawsuit from Adrian Jacobs' estate who wrote the book, Willy the Wizard, in 1987.

Er, what?? This sounds sort of really fishy. Why are they bring up the lawsuit now if this is about Goblet of Fire, eight years after it was published?? And if anyone has seen JKR talk about Harry Potter, then I don't think they would think the idea was never hers. They're obviously after money since the author was bankrupted in 1991 after he had a stroke (according to the book's website).

Has anyone actually read “The Adventures of Willy the Wizard - No 1 Livid Land”? Though a reviewer at amazon.co.uk said that "it very much appears to resemble Harry Potter". What do you all think?
