Bah.

I am very much sick of near-adults whinging about "Tale of Two Cities". I understand it. They don't. Guess what? I really don't care what books you normally read, or that you would never read it. I don't care. I don't. You are assigned to read it. Deal with it. I am going to read David Copperfield once I'm done with Winter Of Fire. Just to shock them. That and I saw the BBC miniseries with Dan Radcliffe on public television. He was adorable. :)

*plug plug plug* "Forgiven" is up at TheDarkArts, go read. http://www.thedarkarts.org/authorLinks/Liz/

Thank you. :)

Three good movies for you: Spy Game, O, and Michael Collins.

Spy Game: Robert Redford and Brad Pitt do good job as CIA agents. Brad Pitt is so pretty. Much of the movie takes place in a flashback to 1985 Beirut, Lebanon, but some of it takes place in the present. Its a good movie, I completely suggest it. Very tense, I had to sit on my hands so that I didn't chew on my fingers once I was done with my fingernails.

O: I can certainly see why they decided not to release it right after Columbine. A modern retelling of "Othello", it is very tense and very good. Josh [is a god] is completely wonderful as the villain (Iago, renamed Hugo). He's not cheesy or even *looks* harmful, but he's decisive and very smart, which makes for a good villain always. Mekhi Pfeifer (sp?) does a good job as the main guy, Odin, or, "O". As Othello is one of the Shakespeare plays I haven't read, I had no idea what was going to happen, and was completely and totally shocked by the ending. But I totally recommend it.

By the by, I don't recommend watching O and Spy Game in succession of one another.

Michael Collins: As I am very interested in history in general, and have been currently focusing on Irish history as my WH project due date draws near. (Eek.) Michael Collins is played by Liam Neeson (one of my favorite actors), Harry Boland is played by Aidan Quinn (who has my absolutely favorite boy's name :), and the Irish Republic's president, Eamon de Valera is wonderfully portrayed by Alan Rickman. (HAHA Alan Rickman!...never mind you had to be there). Anyway, this was an excellent film, about the only thing that ruined the film for me was Julia Roberts (as [fictional?] Kitty Kiernan) and her character. I may be American, but even I could tell that her accent was bad (made me cringe in some places), and she served absolutely no purpose other than to get Michael and his friend Harry on opposite sides of the civil war that broke out. Yes, its nice that she had to choose between them; yes, its nice that she chose Mick and that pissed Harry off... but isn't it enough to make the civil war just that: a civil war, and not make it personal between the two friends?

Other than that, I loved it. It also has a lot of neat quotes. ;)

"You're seven minutes late, Mr. Collins."
"You kept us waiting 700 years. You can have your seven minutes."
