Oh wise and powerful flist.
I have good things. But first, let's deal with the major issue. My HP Pavilion dv5000's internal fan decided about two and a half hours ago to make a noise that I would describe as... blender-like. It makes this noise anytime it engages, i.e. any time that I'm doing anything involving, say, memory, on my computer. This is a major problem. I have, on my brother's instructions, carefully blown compressed air on it, both from the outside and from the inside, by dint of having totally disassembled my laptop, which was a harrowing experience I don't ever care to repeat. The fan is in such a place that I couldn't fully get at it, I could only sort of poke and figure out that nothing was caught in it. Am I better off getting a cooling pad and hoping the fan never engages? Do I have to brave the stupid wilds of Fry's and have them tell me that it's gonna take six weeks again? What shall I do? The noise is making me crazy.
