Right or wrong as far as his making the shirts and then making money off them...what gets to me is all these legislators jumping up in righteous indignation and going to the trouble and expense of making new law. That activity has gotten this guy and them plenty of media and hasnt stopped him. If instead each upset relative had hit the guy with a cease and desist orders and even small claims court lawsuits, I mean buried him in paper and tied him up in court (instead of *Ironically doubtless in some cases* asking big goverment to step in) that wouldve put him out of business far faster and with at least slightly less media exposure.
Now my question is will these state legislators enforce their new knee jerk law (with a punishment in one state on par with that of involuntary manslaughter no less) if somebody decided to use all those names on a tshirt with an American flag on it that said ...say... "Not in Vain,Stay The Course" or "We Support Our Troops, Victory in Iraq" or "McCain for Commander in Chief '08" ? And would the guy making those shirts get as much grief when a relative of a deceased soldier makes a lotta noise about using her soldiers name that way? Ooohh think they'll bust any Presidential canidates who use images and names of soldiers without permission as part of theyre campaign? Make sure they sign all teh release forms, you campaign marketers, cuz at least one of the guys in the ad or on the banner is gonna be dead by the time you use it.
Hey man ya wanna jump on one guys right to the first amendment ya gotta jump on everybody's. Get soem state troopers to troll cafepress and zazzle and lets roll.
