Things have been trucking along the same as usual for me since my last post.
I'm enjoying the stress free commutes and the whole thing has awakened my dormant cooking.... can't think of the right word here. I wouldn't say skills... abilities maybe??
Anyway, I've been cooking more proper meals than I have done in years. Usually I just grab something quick and easy as I'm often not that hungry.
Now that there have been no cafes, or fast food joints open, I've had to take lunch with me to work.
Sandwiches are ok, but I don't want them soggy and I can't be bothered separating all the ingredients and reassembling it at lunch time.
I find it easier to take leftovers and just heat them up. Soups, stews, casseroles, quiches are my main go to's as they provide enough for me and mum to have dinner and lunch the next day.
I baked last weekend (a minor miracle), a banana and blueberry loaf. I really can't remember how many years it has been since I did that. I even made a batch of meatballs tonight that I can freeze, if I can manage to squeeze them in the freezer that is.

NZ has extended the Level 4 lockdown until next Tuesday, then it will go down to Level 3 for 2 weeks. They will review the situation again then.
Level 3 is still fairly restrictive - no large gatherings (some circumstances are ok but no more than 10 people, say for a funeral or wedding), still work from home if you can and only drive if you are an essential worker or you are going to a supermarket or pharmacy.
Keeping social distancing of 2 metres when out and about and 1 metre in controlled areas such as work spaces. Everyone is encouraged to stay within their 'bubble' as much as possible. Businesses can open up their premises but cannot physically interact with their customers, so it will probably have to be online ordering and payment etc. Public venues will still be closed, including gyms. libraries, food courts and other things.
Our rate of new cases is decreasing well and we have a lot of recovered people. Minimal number of deaths at the moment but that total will inevitably grow. We had a couple of outbreaks in rest home facilites so the victims so far are mainly elderly.
This whole thing though is going to take a toll on our small businesses. It's a balancing act between keeping the economy going and keeping people well and safe. Time will tell I guess.
