Summary: Abby gets to work in the morning.
It was just another morning at NCIS when Abby walked into her lab. It was as silent as Autopsy, and she stood there in the dark for a moment, eyes closed. Having spent endless hours in the lab, she didn't need light to know where everything was. It was as familiar to her as the layout of her own apartment. Eyes still closed, she slipped fluidly through the lab, turning each piece of equipment on in turn: the gas chromatograph, microscopes, centrifuge, DNA analyzer, then the radio.
After turning on all the other equipment, she reached the final destination, her computer. Eyes still tightly closed, she flipped the switch and it roared to life. Abby knew exactly how many seconds it would take for the operating system to load and began counting out loud in the empty room.
"1234..............747576!" Fingers flew over the keys as she entered her NCIS login and 18 character alphanumeric password. Now, more waiting for the desktop to load.
"12345.....18192021!" Grinning, she opened her eyes to her lab just as it should be and a Caf-Pow sitting beside her on the table. Blinking, she reached out to touch it, and it was fresh and still cold.
Without turning around, she called out. "Thanks, Gibbs."
"You're welcome, Abbs."
