Work

My first week at Planned Parenthood has gone reasonably well. My colleagues seem friendly and intelligent. I like them. I have my very own office, which thrills me to the marrow. Thus far, I've had a few minor screw ups. I managed to lose some fairly important paper work in an attempt to organize. I also got caught in a downpour during my first ride to the office -- although, that's not a screw up, so much as bad luck. Fortunately my colleagues are also patient and forgiving.

Despite the excitement of a new challenge, I'm tired. It's a mental fatigue, my mind having to actively process everything I do. In time, as I learn and become more comfortable with my responsibilities, I expect I'll have more energy at the end of the day.

What I like most is how varied my responsibilities are. I'm constantly in and out of the office, which suits my limited attention span just fine. And in the office, there's a lot of freedom to move around, get up from one's desk, chat with colleagues, grab a snack, what have you. Each individual is encouraged to work in the manner that most effective for them. It's good.

Dog

We finally heard back from our ex-breeder. She apologized for disappointing us. Her explanation: "Sometimes we just get the feeling things aren't going to work out". When I think about it, I feel personally maligned. So I try not to think about it. I can only conclude we're better off not having to associate with them.

In the meantime, our neighbours' "controversial" dog is spending a week with us. I'm hoping her visit will distract Drama Prince, who's started asking where our puppy is.

Cute

Yesterday was gorgeous weather, so we decided to go for a family dinner on a pub patio. During our meal, Drama King was talking about work. Drama Prince wanted be part of this conversation and began parroting Drama King's every word and mimicking his every gesture. Of course, I lost it completely! Which prompted DP to copy *my* laughter. Which, of course made me laugh even more. It was a hilarious perpetual cycle!
