It seems my excitement in announcing our puppy news was premature. Perhaps yesterday's post angered The Jinx ( Read more... )

The more I think about it, the more I agree with you. Something isn't right here. As Drama King pointed out, suppose our neighbour didn't have a dog now, but got one in a few months? Would they take the puppy away?

Yeah, I'm with Sally. We've had four dogs from breeders, and I don't see this breeder as having normal behaviour.

I posted the WEIRD comment....I've met breeders and they can be uber weird..but really it's one of the stupidest excuses I've heard. I am thinking this person may not be the breeder for you....go with one of those SPCA pups linked here. they are cute and you can easily give them a new name.

I also agree with morag_gunn... maybe the breeding is the issue? (Which, I know you're not planning to breed, but they might not be sure.)

It just doesn't seem to make any sense that you can't socialize your dog in your home ... especially with other dogs of its breed!

We have a clearly written non-breeding agreement. During our initial visit, we stated flat out this dog was meant to be a family pet and nothing more. Finally, both dogs are GIRLS!

If breeding is the issue, I wish they would have talked to us first, rather than cancel the agreement.

Bah! I've been getting more worked up over this all day. We should probably talk to them, before jumping to our own conclusions.

Try not to get too worked up if you can help it. (Easier said than done, I know.)

Things will happen when they're meant to.
