So far so good.
Yesterday I raked the lawn and pulled out the few weeds that had already invaded the dirt bed. I also noticed that my lone lilac bush had some green. Very encouraging, as I thought it had died shortly after I planted it last year.
Then I went garden shopping at Home Depot. To my delight, I was able to pick up some reasonably priced hydrangea plants, some more lilacs and something the staff recommended called rhododendrons. I also got a baby cedar tree, some violas, some carnations and a bunch of flower seed packets.*
Today will be all about the digging and the planting and the sweating and the cursing.
xiz111 has offered to stop by with his arsenal of tools and know-how. This is good. If my plants are to survive they need all the support I can get.
