So we did check out the Easter celebrations in
Dolores Park. I didn't spot any men dressed as nuns. Fortunately, we did see men dressed as fairies, men dressed as bunnies, men dressed as turtles and men dressed as women. There were people galore: hippies and hipsters and drag kings, moms, dads, kids, dogs, a ferret. Heady smells of pot, mixed with barbecue and apple blossoms. A heady mash of city life. San Fran is awesome!
This morning we set out early for Golden Gate Park. We spent time at the children's playground, then stumbled upon the Botanical Gardens. We got a little lost and in our quest to find an exit, stumbled upon a small pond, where spring was definitely in the air. There were baby ducklings and turtles canoodling on a rock. And a strange sassy bird with jet black feathers and creepy yellow eyes. It ruffled it's feathers at us defiantly.
Since we arrived, I've been an eating machine. Partly because there's such a tantalizing variety of food here. Between the organic markets, the very fresh sushi, the funky restaurants and exotic only-in-American brand food, there's just too much goodness to pass up. Furthermore, I feel as though I've done nothing but walk uphill since we arrived. I'm burning calories galore. Those calories need to be replaced...with Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies!
This afternoon: Chinatown!
