I haven't looked at it in over a decade, nor did I ever use it, but I think it could be useful. They have a free trial, so I would pick a time period where you're really going to be writing a lot and see how it goes. The story structure tools might be useful, and if you are working on screenplays, the formatting tools will be great.
It's obviously more than Office, but if it saves you time with redundant formatting tasks, even that alone could be worth the cash. I would definitely read as many reviews as you can before downloading the trial (especially from people writing scripts for the stage - I don't know if there are special tools for them or not), and make sure you're able to write a lot during the trial period, as there are always problems with software that don't show themselves until you've used it for a while..
