Snow Day!!!

Ottawa is in the throes of a full-on winter storm. This in sharp constrast to last year, when winter didn't really get going until well into January. I have nowhere I need to be today, so let it snow!

Drama King and I just finished meeting with a home stager. For those who are unfamiliar with the concept, stagers give home-seller advice on how to spruce up their house so that it has maximum buyer-appeal.
I was a little intimidated by the idea of a stranger critiquing our home, but the stager was very nice and kept things positive. Her suggestions made a lot of sense and will (I think) help us get top dollar for our home.

There was one suggestion that made me a little angsty. She thought it would be a really good idea to pack away a lot of our books. From an aesthetic perspective, I totally see her point. From an "I don't wanna" perspective...I DON'T WANNA! Which is pretty much what I told her. She was very reassuring. She reminded me that:
a)the books won't be GONE. They'll just be packed in a box
b)books I've read in the past six months, I'm unlikely to read again before we move.
c)I can unpack them again after the house is sold.

Truth be told, between DP becoming more of a handful, getting ready to sell the house, writing my play and the daily business of life I'm not reading nearly as much as I used to. I'm not going to read a fraction of what's in my personal library between now and the move. Yet somehow, I derive a lot of comfort from my books, even when I'm not reading them. They're kind of like friends, if that makes any sense. It'll be hard to put them away, even for a few months.

response: twenty plus, house, books
