I can't believe it! Reading and writing actually paid off!
I went to see Les Miserables tonight at the Fine Arts Center, and... WOW. It was awesome! It's amazing how a bunch of kids can put together a show that's so great!
These kids were so talented, they had the best singing voices! There wasn't a lot of dancing. but Everything was just awesome. The music is great. I'm going to buy the complete soundtrack.
The characters were great. The Thenardiers were HILARIOUS. Javert was totally sexy. My favorite character was Eponine. Mostly because I can totally identify with her. She's secretly in love with her best friend, Marius, as she watches him fall in love with Cosette. I cried so hard when she died.
The musical numbers were done really well too. I really liked the one in the Thenardier's inn. It was funny as hell. My favorite was the one where all the students are planning the barricade on the eve of the revolution. It was really cool, I can'y really describe it.
I also liked when Javert killed himself. He jumps into the river. On the stage, the had the river rail hooked up with a fly system, so Javert steps over the rail and jumps, and when he jumps, the rail flys up and the lights are a dark and crazy, so that Javert isn't moving, but it looks like he's falling into a river. Then he goes down into a trapdoor in the stage.
The only part I didn't like is when Marius ended up with Cosette. He should've married Eponine. LOL.
Anyway, GREAT SHOW. If you have the opportunity, SEE IT.
Anyway, during intermission and after the show, I got to talk to a bunch of old friends I haven't seen in a while. Most of them were awesome, like Cara, who was crazy to see me and kept telling me how gorgeous I was. I saw Jeff after the show. Jeff's an awesome actor. He played Monsieur Thenardier, which is the perfect part for him. Anyway he seemed happy to see me too. Then I saw Nick and Lydia and Colin and Brian from school, and a bunch of people who were in the Youth Rep Workshop last year. I talked to Rhonda, but she didn't seem to even care that I was there. Which is weird because she used to love me.
But I am so mad I wasn't involved in the show this year!!! I was gonna audition but I didn't find out about them until like 2 days before and I had nothing prepared. But I wish I would've gone done and just hung out like I did on Beauty and the Beast. There were a lot of really hot guys in the workshop this year too... what a shame.
