Wow, it feels good to be home in the good old USA. Italy was awesome, but going there makes me very thankful that I live here and not there. The trip was so cool. Our first flight was from Chicago to London and our flight left at about 5:30 on Monday and we got to London and then got on another plane to Milan and we got there at about oh I forget. Italy is 7 time zones away from here, so while you all were sleeping, I was awake and vise versa. We were put into groups of other kids. There was a group from Georgia, and one from St. Louis (I hung out with them the most because they were awesome and funny) and a group from Pekin. The Pekin girls were not my favorite group of people.
Anyway, our first two nights we stayed in Lido, which is an Island right off of Venice. That hotel was really small, but it was a three star hotel there I think. Breakfasts in Italy consists of rolls, dry toasty things and very hard breads. If you were lucky you got Yogurt. Lunches were in our free time and dinner had three courses which were pastas and then some kinda meat or planty thing (yucky) and then desert. We all looked forward to the deserts. But anyway, in Venice, I saw the St. Mark's Square and went in the cathedral and bell tower. We were up in the bell tower at 12 when it was time for the bells to chime and it was very loud. Venice was cool, but kinda dirty and very cramped. I got a mask from a store and it is cool. Then we went to Florence, the best place to buy leather. That was cool too. Marc and I got into a fight there at the hotel and we didn't really talk the rest of the week. He hung out with all his Pekin younings and I hung out with My St. Louis friends ( Sasha, Eric, Liz, Rebecca, and Travis) They were so cool and funny. Eric and Sasha reminded me of Ellen and Aaron. I could talk to them and they could talk to me and they really helped me get threw some things. Every one of them except for Travis, graduated this year. We got lost in Florence. our guide told us that is was impossible to get lost in Florence but there were so many side alleys and we walked for such a long time. We waited in line to see David for 2 hours. The line did not seem to move. While in Italy, I saw so many different churches and cathedrals. Some places had a strict dress code. Males had to wear long pants and females had to cover their shoulders and their knees. Also in Italy, I saw Pompei and that was crazy. It was so neat, I'm amazed at how they dug up a majority of that city and there is still some of it covered. We also went to the Island of Capri and Sasha and I decided we were going to take a day off, so we went to the beach. It was all pebbly and it hurt our feet, and the water was so salty that it burned. The water was also kinda dirty. One thing I noticed about Italy is that there is graffiti (spelled that one wrong) everwhere. We also to Pisa and I got to see the Leaning Tower and the was my favorite part of the whole trip. It was all lite up and it was so beautiful. This is where Sasha, her teacher and I got separated from the rest of the group. That was not cool, and marc made me thing that my dad was pissed at me when he really wasn't. Another really cool place I went to was Rome. The day we got there, Rome's Soccer team won the World's Championship, so it was like a big party there. The last day, Travis, Shasha, Eric, Rebecca and I all got flags to show that we supported the Rome soccer team. We had a lot of fun, goofing off with that. In Rome, I also saw the Colliseum (can't spell anything) and they were cleaning it, but you can tell where it has been restored. They were also some other ruins, that were pretty neat. I also saw the Sistine Chapel and that was amazing. They had also cleaned that, and they left some of the corners uncleaned so you could see how it was before and it would have been really hard to see. Some bad things about Italy were that you had to pay to use to Public bathrooms (water closets), they had no traffic laws and people drove like maniacs, and the people there are very rude and rushed. But for the most part, I had an awesome trip. I met many cool people and I hope I get to see them again someday, Especially Sasha and Eric. They were great people and I miss them already. Lol, Eric and Travis are two of the funniest guys I have ever met. Whenever they were together, it was always hilarious ad plus Liz was pretty funny herself. She was so sarcastic and she always beat up travis. Travis was just crazy and basically wanted to get some from anyone, Rebecca was a crazy and hilarious drunk (lemonchello rules) and Sasha could always make me laugh. I guess that is why I liked that group so much, they didn't care what others thought, they just wanted to have a good time. I should be tired, I have been away for a very long time, but I'm not tired. I got home and I checked my email and found something that I didn't really want to see and things have happened. I guess it is all for the best, but I don't see why it had to happen. I don't understand why we can't just be happy. I tried so hard and I know that I'm not the only one. Not meaning to be confusing, cause I know I am confusing some people. I don't know what to do anymore on this subject, I know what I want...but who says we always get what we want? Oh well, I should be happy with what I do have, and I am, but like usual.... I want more. That's not always a good thing. Oh well, I have a lot of thinking that I need to do, plus I need to sleep or I'll never get over this jet-lag. I hope it rains all night! Win in Rome "Veni Vidi Vici"
