Puppy Snafu:

I drove over to the Franklin County Dog Shelter today to pick up my little puppy... when I got there, the receptionist pulled out my application and said, "have you talked to your landlady?"  And I said... "yes, I talked to her this morning and she was totally fine with the adoption."  Well, it turns out she neglected to tell me that there's a weight restriction for pets since I live on the second floor (which is bullshit, there are some pretty big dogs that live on the floor above me).

And apparently there's another family that had my puppy on hold, so they're going to get her tomorrow.  Which sucks.  I mean, I'm glad she'll still have a good home.  But still.

I was pretty devastated... Mom and I made a pretty hefty purchase at PetSmart yesterday (granted, most of the stuff I can use for whatever dog I get, but still).  And I've puppy-proofed the whole apartment, and the crate is set up in my bedroom and everything.  I'm very much ready to have a dog here.

So I've calmed down a little bit, and Mom has been doing some research for me.  I had talked about getting a cocker spaniel a while ago, and so Mom found this little guy:

His name is Oscar, and he's adorable, and under the 35-pound weight limit that I apparently have to follow now, and he's already housebroken, and still available for adoption.  So I think I'm going to go check him out.  :)

Mom said this is God's way of telling me I can't handle a puppy right now.

She's pretty much always right.

Updates to follow in the not-too-distant future.
