Best (slightly early) Birthday surprise EVER!

Julian wins at surprises. Seriously.

My Birthday is Monday, and I just knew he had something planned last night because he kept reminding me to make sure not to miss my train home after work. I got home last night, and who is hiding under my kitchen table? My Best friend Niki from Atlanta who I haven't seen since last year's Dragon Con! She flew in for a surprise one-night visit (she had to work this afternoon)! I seriously jumped up and down like a big giant dork. Especially since I decided I wasn't going to be able to make it to Dragon*Con this year because of work/expense.

THEN, We went for dinner with a couple of friends to this awesome restaurant I've been wanting to try called Chifa (it's latin-american/Asian fusion, which sounds weird by is awesome). Only, we get there and they take us downstairs to a giant table full of my other friends! It was so cool to have everyone together, and the food was A-MA-ZING. It's all tapas-style, so we got about 10 little dishes to try. Like, lamb with red chili sauce and this awesome salad with green beans and tomatoes and edamame and cotija cheese, and green tea tiramisu, and crab empanadas and yellowtail ceviche and awesome little cheesey arepas and lots more deliciousness. We did a tasting menu, so they just kept bringing us fun little surprises.

Then, I got to open presents, which included a Harry Potter 1-5 Blu-ray set from Julian that looks like a little trunk and all the Dvds look like books inside and comes with a kind of stupid dvd game(we played it at 2am) and a pretty set of little metal bookmarks shaped like a quidditch broom and a snitch and a gryffindor crest and other stuff. And, a pretty red Anthropologie top that my friend who works for them helped design and The Joy of Cooking (which I have wanted forever) and a bottle of Patron (also from Julian. nom nom) and a pretty Lapis necklace my friend brought my back from the middle east (not sure where, I should ask him! I know he was in Kuwait and Dubai) and WiiSports Resort. :D

And THEN! We went to the new Max Brenner Chocolate restaurant, which is insane and awesome and like Willy Wonka with pipes going along the ceiling that say "chocolate" on them and big mixers of melted chocolate and a menu that's like fifteen pages long of all chocolate and awesome chocolate martinis and shakes that come in cups that say "drink me" and I have a Chococo martini with Coco rum and dark chocolate in it and chocolate fondue with strawberries and bananas and chocolate chip banana bread and marshmallows and a little flame thing to toast (or char, as I prefer)the marshmallows over and 3 kinds of chocolate fondue (milk, dark, and english toffee). NOM NOM NOM.

And then I went home and hugged Niki and played the hokey Hogwarts dvd game (which is narrated by Jim Dale!) until we both fell asleep and then she left me this morning and went back home.

This is like, the best weekend ever and It's only Saturday afternoon!

ETS: And! I bought SYTYCD tour tickets this morning for the show in Trenton, NJ! *squee*
