Surprises

Today, I heard on the radio the Mozart Variations to "ah vous direi'je maman" (that's probably completely wrongly spelled), the tune that became "Oh Du lieber Weihnachtsmann" (Oh dear Santa Claus). Despite of having a couple of carpoolers, I had to crank up the volume, because it reminded me of the old times, when I butchered this piece

Oh well, it was appropriate music, since I got a quasi Christmas present today: A role at a company I auditioned for 1.5 years ago. It is small, it is not well paid, it is a long commute, but it is a role with good people in a beautiful opera, and I'll also cover the contralto lead. Thanks to Bellavoix's advice to always try to get something additionally when the company can't pay very much, I asked and they were happy about it.

So, I actually have now two operas and one cover on my 2007 resume, and could take off the old scenes to free up space! Who would have thought ...

(For those of you who don't know: I am older, started late, and have struggled for a long time to actually figure out how to sing, still struggling. Things seem to start happening now. ).
