I made myself have a somewhat low-key week because I didn't want to stay sick. As a result, I can't wait to go out tonight with my friends to go dancing. We don't have class tomorrow, which rocks. We're going on an excursion to the mountains near Segovia. We're going to go see a battle sight from the Spanish civil war. I love the fact that I get to sleep in tomorrow because the bus doesn't leave until 11:30.(Did I mention that I love to sleep? It has been nearly impossible to drag myself away from my cozy bed after my daily siesta. I really must schedule my winter classes to have a break in the middle of the day.)
So I have decided that writing a four page paper in Spanish, stinks. I could have written the paper for my literature class in like an hour if I was writing in English (and it would have been good), but in Spanish it ended up taking me over four hours. My lit class is turning out to be pretty difficult because it takes me forever to translate the stories and poems that we're reading.
My current plan for the weekend is to go to Toledo. A lot of my friends just want to stay in town this weekend, but I want to make sure I see something new every weekend. I'm really excited about this trip because I've read that Toledo is absolutely full of beautiful buildings, artwork, and skilled artisans.
The beautiful moment for the week occurred when I was heading home from school the other day. I had been meandering through the streets stopping at random shops and taking in the evening air. I was about to end my wanderings when I was halted by the glow of the setting sun on the roofs of the houses beyond the aqeuduct. The view turned me right around and led me back to the plaza. I wished that I had a camera with me, but unfortunately I've taken to leaving it at home. So instead, I had to record the image the old fashioned way with my mind. I staid watching the rosy glow off the stone and stucco until it had all but faded away.
