Auditions, Acting, Masks

Well today was intense. This morning I auditioned for the Acting 1 class. It went well, but I felt better about the audition for "Philadelphia Story." There really isn't even anything that I can complain about how my monologue went. The only thing is that originally we were suppose to sing, but since things were running so late, they cut the singing portion. I'd spent valuable time preparing to sing, plus it would have given me more time to impress the auditioners who get to decide my fate. I really, really, really hope I got into the class, but atleast I know that I get a second chance next year if I didn't. (Can you believe that only 40 students out of the hundred that auditioned will get a slot in this year's class?)
What really stinks is that I thought I'd get a huge sense of relief after the audition was over with, but I didn't. I was under the impression that the results would be posted by sometime this weekend, so I figured I could handle the stress for that long. But low and behold, it turns out that the results won't be posted for at least a week. I'm just going to have to figure a way to push it out of my mind till then or else I'm going to drive myself CRAZY.
I really don't feel like talking about my course work, so I won't
At the start of rehearsal, we played did this extremly awesome activity where every member of the cast was given a sheet of paper with a phrase printed on it. Each phrase was part of a sonnet that we had to put back in the correct order. It was difficult, but a ton of fun. I had this really random line that talked about food. The funniest part is that "food" was suppose to rhyme with the "would" in someone else's phrase. We kept wandering around trying to figure out how the heck we fit into the whole picture. Alas, we felt like shameful outcasts. *giggle* The rest of rehearsal went well, and I even gave some helpful comments during notes.
After rehearsal I went to the Halloween dance. It was fun, but not amazing. However, my costume was quite cool, especially when you consider I put it together in about 14 minutes right before I ran off to rehearsal. Perhaps I'll get a picture from Sam and post it somewhere so that people can see it. The best part was that I finally got to use my white mask with the huge nose.

Usually I jump right into the festivities when I enter a dance. Tonight was different. I entered wearing a mask. This mask gave me such a sense of anonimity that I loathed the idea of ever shedding it. I found myself sitting in a chair near the dance floor and just watching the strange rituals that college students partake of. I felt free to stare and analyze from behind my mask. No one there had any idea who I was or what I was about. I relished the feeling. I love to people watch, but I feel uncomfortable when my glances are returned. Tonight, my worries were alleviated and I was able for the first time to gaze to my hearts content. I weakness of mine is that I over-analyze everything, but tonight I let myself swim through my thoughts joyfully, without reproach. It was a marvelous experience, made all the more noteworthy because its power was strong enough to overcome the all-encompasing allure of dance. Atleast for a time. I eventually joined the frolicking hordes and settled into a state of physical freedom rather than a mental one.

I know that I have thoughts that are more worthwhile that I should share, but I just can't get my mind around them at this moment. Therefore, I say goodnight.
