you lifted me out and set me dancing, now i'm free...
ok, well it's been like a million years since i've updated, so i've got quite a lot of stuff to say.
let's see, a while ago a bunch of us went to the movies to see wall-e. there was me, meghan, rachel, ben, henry, stephen, haley and some of her friends, and charlie. the movie was amazing! henry's battery died while waiting so we had to jump-start it w/ meghan's car. he was sooo funny, he forgot that he had to steer while pushing the car! then we all went bowling. we unintentionally made a bet w/ the boys that whoever lost would buy the winners dinner at steak and shake. well, it was basically me(sorry meghan and rachel, but i basically carried the team) vs stephen, henry, and ben, who were all pretty good. well, we only lost by like 30 points, so that was exciting. then we went and had an amazing time at dinner. talking about random stuff and just things.
the next day i went out to lunch w/ ashley, chelsea, michelle, amber, and wendy. then we went boating at peanut island. well, a cycle began; lunch turned into boating, boating turned into movie night, movie night turned into sleepover, sleepover turned into fun the next day. so we watched "definitely maybe", which wasnt really that good. we made lots of cookies. we slept in the camper bc the boys stole our mattresses. then we just hung out the next day. i went babysitting w/ chelsea, rode around w/ ashley, michelle, wendy, and chelsea on the bikes. we watched fool's gold, which was really good. and then i went home that night cause my parents were mad when i suggested staying another night. but it was soooo much fun.
then we had daytona beach last week, which was amazing!! the only bad part was that ashley decided not to come, so i had to basically make all new friends cause she, chelsea, and michelle weren't coming. we got there and i found out i was rooming w/ nicole, laura, and amanda, which is like the suncoast crowd. but we had a lot of fun. the theme was "the way", and louie giglio is an AMAZING speaker. chris tomlin was our worship leader, and he was the same way. he taught us some songs from his new album coming out in september. there was a 7-11 btwn the hotel and the conference center(we walked everywhere), so we always made stops to get slurpees and stuff.
ok, let me explain a bit. every morning they have what they call "celebration". they just do a lot of annoucements and fun stuff and different things. then they do worship followed by a short sermon by louie. then we have until like 6 to do whatever we want. then we have evening worship, which is an illuisionist came and did tricks, worship, and then a full-out sermon. so that's how every day went basically.
the first day we had our service project. we cleaned up a road and by a river. laura was the official photographer, and i became a model lol. then we went to the hotel, went swimming at the beach for a bit(oh yeah, the hotel was right on the beach), cleaned up, and then went out for dinner at quiznos. we met these 2 girls that were cool. then we went to service and had an amazing time there. the theme for that day was "choices", which was all about choosing which way you want to follow. after the evening service, they had a concert by decemberadio. my group just stayed for one song, then we went back to the hotel. we just hung out and went to the beach.
the second day was fun also. at celebration they have this thing called "PSA from the PA", which is a public service announcement from the producer assistant. that morning it was "just because you can play expert on guitar hero doesnt make you a rock star" lol. louie started reading the journal of a girl from UF who's family was all christian except her dad, and she didnt want anything to do w/ religion. then her final semester at college, stuff happens w/ her boyfriend and she gets a new roommate, who's a christian. the girl eventually becomes a christian 2 weeks after the girl(kristen aka fruitcake) moves in. it was a really good story. that basically covered the morning and evening service lol. we went to a water park, which was a lot of fun. we did all the rides, then we went go-karting afterwards. then we had like almost no time to eat and stuff, so kris ran out and got those of us who were running late dinner. then we went and it was fun. we didnt stay for the delirious concert and the youth group had a pool party. we just kinda stayed in the room and then went down to the pool but didnt go in. but it was fun.
thursday, the final day. we started talking about being ready to go out and make a difference in the world. we went and had ihop for lunch w/ our group, which also included kris(our YD), lilian, hannah, and melanie. i lost my cell phone, but we found it back at the conference center. i met a bunch of ppl from south carolina at the beach, which was fun. i stayed at the beach for like 3 hours, then went to clean up and stuff. the evening service was amazing!!! louie finished the story of the girl in the journal, ashley. turns out she was killed in a car accident just a week before her graduation. louie became really good friends w/ her dad, who is still not a christian. and louie had gotten the journal as a present from the family, and this was the first conference he had used it at. just everything was amazing.
now the fun began. we went down to the beach for a while, then we had our oh so amazing wrestling match!!! can we just say that our YG is amazing?! we, especially the girls, were pulling moves that no one has ever seen before. the boys were even afraid the wrestle w/ us(except they can't cause that breaks one of the rules, unfortunately). but we had like 40 ppl in one room just to watch and to play. it finally ended around 3. but the middle school girls wanted to stay up all night since we had to be up at like 7. so i was nominated at the counselor bc i had had 2 monsters and like a liter of soda. so we stayed up talkin about random stuff, playing random games, and just doing random stuff. then at like 6 we called the david's room as a wake-up call, but they didnt pick up. only me and taylor wilber made it all night though. we took showers, went to get breakfast, and then we went down to the beach to watch the sunrise. then we had to get ready to go. we had our small group time, then we left. we had lunch at cracker barrel. we got home around 2.
then saturday, we had DCI!! the ride up there was fun. we got ok seats. mike kolar was amazing! the bluestars did a tour-de-france theme, which was really cool. then we went to go see carolina crown warm up. i saw DAN!! we talked for a while, but he didnt want to go see the warm-up. he's a party pooper lol. but we like embarrased brandon cause there were like 10 of us there watching the warm-up. he did really good! the cadets did another stupid show, "the pursuit of happiness", another talking show. but carolina crown won!! we were soo happy. i slept on the way back bc my lack of sleep was catching up to me from 2 nights before. but we had a ton of fun.
so, that's basically it. just working on AP chemistry, summer reading, and spanish. this has not been a very exciting summer, except for these few events lol.
