"And the grapefruit moon, one star shining, is all that I can see."

Though I've never been one to get all amped up about the new year - I tend to measure my life by summers - I must say that today was a lovely way to start things off. The One One Run ended up being almost perfect. The park is spectacular, the day was beautiful and mild, and I even ended up meeting someone who I did a double loop of the course with. She was a talker and we actually talked the entire 4.4 miles, which I did not expect. Lucky for me, she is a part of the walkers group I had been looking into and she filled me in on what they do, when they meet, etc., so it was most informative.

My legs weren't in the least bit jelly like at the end, so I'm all kinds of pleased. :)

RFK went pretty well considering that Sam wasn't there. Usually I just do a lot of music, but today I had quite a few stories worth reading that didn't need a ton of discussion, so that was sweet. The guy who called my show a few Saturdays ago and asked me to marry him called me while I was on today and asked again, though of course we've passed into the realm of schtick at this point. He was rather pleased to hear me again and he requested Tom Waits, so he clearly has at least one good quality. :p The whole thing was smooth, I found and played all six requests, and had a mighty fine time.

The only downside of the day was dinner. I really wanted Rykse's and their website said nothing about being closed today, which was a disappointment. There are too few words for how good their soups are. Then my next two choices were closed too. Oh pooh.

Tomorrow will be even better, as I'm trying out a new restaurant I came across walking on the mall this week. It's called Rustica and it's a style that I've felt lacking in Kalamazoo since I really started exploring the culinary side of my city. I'm pretty geeked for it. Afterwards I'm hitting up a show at The Strutt, so I'm looking at a very nice evening. Sunday I hang with Adeline. Pretty full weekend.

Can you tell that I'm a little tuckered after all the excitement? Yeah, I'm looking forward to being all snuggled up in bed with the autobiography of Mel Brooks I picked up at the library yesterday.
