This afternoon I finally got around to getting the rest of December filled out on my current calendar and January and February filled out in my new ones, and land sakes so I have a full winter so far. Classes at both libraries are back to things I'm interested in, so I registered for those, the KIA is opening an
exhibit of Warner Brothers animation and has ArtBreak events to go along with it that I fully plan on attending, and the Live @ The Met series is getting to the stuff I've really been wanting to see. Though it's pretty funny when I look at the bottom of the calendar, as with the exception of Christmas and a possible trip to Grand Rapids to see
Electric Six, it is completely empty. I'll probably end up going to do something Christmasy with Michael and Kay at some point, as we usually do that, but I have quite a stretch of free time at the moment.
I'm also geeked for the 18th, when I get to go see laser U2 with the twins, even though they're rather hip kindergarteners and have already seen it once before. They're far wilder than Adeline, as a rule, so I like being able to do rock type things with them. Don't mistake, our Addie would have a blast with it, but she's a mellower little lady when it comes to planning things. She'll have a ton of fun in the moment and get excited just before we leave the house, but she's very big on being content in the moment. Well, that or getting the adults to stop talking so loudly and move out of the way because they're blocking the screen showing the latest episode of
Chowder. In any case, the twins and I are looking forward to the fun in equal measure.
On a less fun note, Matt can no longer make it to the
Phoenix show on Tuesday and, as yet, I haven't been able to find anyone else to go with. Everyone I know who has any interest in seeing them is either working, in class, in another state/country, or five, none of which allows them to come with. I don't mind the drive or seeing them alone, as that's usually how I do stuff, but I'm not too wild about being in downtown Pontiac by myself. When I was young and foolhardy enough to only kind of know better I would've been fine with it, but I'm older, wiser, and a tad slower reflex wise. There's still hope to find a companion for the evening, I suppose, but I don't anticipate it happening. Ah well, it'll be a great show no matter what, so I know I'll have fun, I just have to make sure I get in early and get a parking spot very close to the door. ;)
I've decided that you just need to see this, even if you're not in Michigan and wouldn't be able to come along and see Electric Six anyway. You deserve a taste if you've not yet had one. I love this song, but never in a million years would I have envisioned the video they made for it. Welcome to Post Modern masculinity! :p
