surrounded by emptyness...of a desk

My walls are now empty at work. It happened. November 2, 2004 finally came and happened. Four months of hard work for that day, and it finally came. And now, two days after that November 2, 2004, I now sit at my desk surrounded by empty walls, because after all the campaign is over.

The past few days have been so tiring, and hoping for the best. But in the end, our hard work did not bring enough votes. Over 100,000 in Arizona, and just about 4.5 million in the country. The American people spoke, and they spoke ever so clearly, and now we will endure another four years of President George W. Bush. In all honesty, I wonder and am kind of excited to see how President Bush handles these next four years. He can no longer relate to his father, who never served a second term, but will finally have to do this second term on his own. I also feel the man has actually learned a lot in these past four years, actually, I think he has learned a lot in this past year dealing with a very harsh campaign. His faults were put center stage for the American people to see, and just about half the country disagreed with his Presidency in the first four years. The thing about second terms is this is it. There is nothing after the second term, so you need to do the best you can for all the american people, and not just for the people who will re-elect you. George Bush's victory speech was very well done, and he had a lot of heart into what he said. Then at today's press conference he spoke very well about uniting the country and working with all members in Congress, not just the the republican majority. I also look forward to Bush's new cabinet. I look forward to no more John Ashcroft, and potentially no more Tom Ridge or Donald Rumsfeld. I will face this re-election of George Bush not with anger and wanting to move to another country, but this is an opporotunity to see how this man no longer plauged by his father's legacy will handle this country in the next four years.

I am sad over Kerry's lack of success, he put a lot of effort into this campaign and saved it from the brink of disaster on numerous occasions. He fought hard, but it is true. It is hard to challenge a incumbent and win, unless that incumbent has completely fucked up. It is also hard to run from Congress, because your votes can and will hurt you. There is a reason why the last person from Congress that was elected to the Presidency was 44 years ago with John F. Kennedy. It is hard to hide away the thousands of votes that can be picked apart to hurt you. Kerry did quite well with these disadvantages, and I salute him. i look forward to his next four years in the US Senate, because he will be a more respected man. Thank you john f. kerry for a hard fight, and being there to provide a voice for the people who thought that they did not have a fight.

that is all. I need to finsih cleaning out my desk.
