I decided to start looking at apartments in Florida, just to see how freaking broke I'll be if I move there. Then I remembered... I've lived in Southern California my whole life. Housing here is incredibly expensive. I'd pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I'd need a roommate or two and I'd be paying about $500 a month for a small apartment, which is true if I move to Carlsbad or somewhere close to Legoland California. If I move to Legoland Florida, for $400-500 a month, I can live in a pretty nice one-bedroom apartment. Or, I can pay about $300 and get a sweet two-bedroom apartment with a roommate. Also, several of the complexes in Winter Haven have discounts and incentives for Legoland employees.
Beyond all that, though... what an adventure it would be. Load up the possessions I most need in a car and drive across the country to start a new life where I don't know anyone. That just sounds so amazing to me.
So, keep fingers crossed or send out good vibes or whatever... I really want to get this job.
Edit: Holy tapdancing Christ, moving trucks are expensive! Sorry, furniture... I think you're just going to have to stay here. I will be deeply saddened if I have to say goodbye to my bed, but it's really not worth $1800 to drive it across the country.
