[And so after weeks of not showing up in the community due to constant missions, the camera clicks on. It's clean, as usual, but the man that is usually on this frequency. There is a grand piano farther down the room, an empty seat in front of it, books laying there, waiting to be studied. After a few minutes, a familiar figure shows up, the ( Read more... )

[And with a sudden stop, Sam looks around. Then he rubs his ear and his throat. A chuckle comes out when he understands that the community had its eye on him.]

I'll take in mind not taking my OPSAT to the bathroom with me.

[He looks back, green eyes setting on the device and smiles when he sees the younger man's face.]

No. Not really.

[He points to the books, resting over the piano keys.]

Living in a... more than just rural place made it hard for me to find a teacher that would come all the way to teach my daughter. She's better than me now.

I should learn an instrument, I think.

[He smiles and folds his arms.]

It ain't that bad. A lot of practice and discipline... but I guess if you do like the instrument, you shouldn't have any problems in learning it.

[He makes a face and sighs.]

If the piano is your thing, or the guitar for that matter, I could help you with either of them anytime I'm not away dodging bullets thanks to my job.

I like music and I was thinking of maybe singing but... I'm not sure.

[He chuckles a little and waves his hands, leaning back from the camera.]

Singing is not my MO. My daughter says I could try... with some practice. Not that bad at the Rock N' Roll department, but not The King, either, if you understand.

[Slowly. he raises from his chair, his jaw drops open, an expression of confusion as much as of horror on his face. Not quite sure if it is faked or honest.. perhaps a bit of both. As a quick response, he simply starts playing. Then he clears his throat.]

Oh. I think I've heard something like that... But we probably just didn't have the same name for it back in the Village.

[He stops singing - not such a bad display of his singing given the fact that his rough voice goes well for this kind of genre - and smiles a little, but his fingers keep their work.]

Elvis Presley. The King of Rock N' Roll, my community friend. The King.

[The name gets a blank look from 11-12.]

I haven't heard of him but then, everybody had number names in my world - even the great inventors or old musicians. Like... Oh, I heard 1756 is known at Mozart in other places.
