[Accidental video]

Aug 24, 2011 14:05

[James is sitting in his room, on his bed. It's clear he's just woken up and he's checking the book for anything about his friends he needs to reply to. Seeing nothing imminent, he places it back on the side but doesn't realise it's still open ( Read more... )

[She is all sorts of unsure on how to respond to this. How does he know she's Harry's mother?!?!]

That's... quite the dream you had.

[It takes a while before James responds to her. He's also unsure how to. But in the end, he goes with the truth.]

Yeah. She's never had a face before.

You don't say.... Dare I ask how I came into the picture, then?

[James snorted. Not at the question, but at the answer he was about to give.] It was actually Snape. We were talking about my future, his past, and he said you we were going to get married and you were Harry's mum.

[It's clear by his tone that he doesn't believe this is the case but wishes it was.]

[She had had her hand propping up her head as she doodled something on a separate bit of parchment when her eyes widened in shock and it slid out. Something was knocked over with a clatter as the video vanished under a sudden puddle of deep, emerald green. He can only hear as she fumbles around trying to save her books and paper from an ink-covered fate.] Stupid inkpot.... [And then she stops, grabs her wand, and starts siphoning off the ink and putting it back in the little bottle. Her face comes back into view, a lot calmer than before. An act? He may never know.]

Severus Snape was clearly trying to goad you, you'd think he'd have grown up and out of that at his age. I've never heard such rubbish. Harry's a very sweet boy, but me? His mother? Preposterous. [It killed her to say all that, but she was stubborn not to let him in on that little fact. Sure James was changing, he was a better person than he had been a few years ago. But what if knowing they were supposed to be married and have Harry as their son turned him back into a ( ... )

I should have guessed. [He sounded quite disappointed at the fact but he was still smiling.] Thanks, Lily.

[He believed it... she was almost surprised, but she was also glad that he didn't catch on. This wasn't the right time for him to find out. She smiles back at him.] You're quite welcome.

That's right... we are. Are you ready for the train ride back to Hogwarts and to be a good example for the student body?

I'm ready for the train, yeah.

[frooooooowning a little on her end] You do realise the sort of responsibility the Head title comes with, don't you?

Don't worry. Dumbledore wouldn't have chosen me if I wasn't up for the job.

I suppose I should have more faith in the Headmaster's choice....

...than in me. I get it. [He'll prove himself to her. He promises himself that.]

[Agh! Poor word choice! She's mentally facepalming at herself now.] No! I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that. Professor Dumbledore has faith in you, so I should have faith that you will be up to the job too.
