Much joy has occurred since last I wrote upon this parchment. The travelers I set free journeyed to Edoras and among them they brought Gandalf the Wizard, whose words freed my uncle from his illness.
Now we journey to Helm's Deep with the people of Edoras, for it is our stronghold in the west, which shall better protect us from our enemy's forces. Of course, as I have found time to write, we have made camp for the night and shall reach our destination by dusk tomorrow.
I cannot say what shall happen then, but I wished to thank you for your kind words while I was imprisoned. Hope came to us unlooked for, perhaps it shall do so again. But if not, we shall die with honor and valor, knowing we faced our enemies courageously.
